Reclaims Your Yard
A stump in the middle of your lawn limits where you can mow, landscape, build, or play. Grinding it out restores the full footprint of your yard — you can re-sod, plant a flower bed, or just enjoy a level, hazard-free surface.

Brad's Tree Care
A leftover stump is more than just a piece of tree left over in your yard; it’s a tripping hazard, a mower-killer, a target for termites and carpenter ants, and a launchpad for new sucker shoots. Grinding it down 6–12 inches below grade is fast, clean, and far cheaper than full excavation.
Brad’s Tree Care has been grinding stumps in Fort Smith, AR since 2009. Same-day service in most cases, free estimates, and your yard left mulched, leveled, and ready to grass over. Licensed, bonded, and insured.

Stump Grinding vs. Stump Removal — Which One Do You Need?
Both methods get rid of the stump, but they’re different jobs. Stump grinding uses a high-speed cutting wheel to chew the stump and surface roots into mulch, leaving the deeper root system to decay naturally in the soil. It’s fast, affordable, and minimally invasive — the right choice 95% of the time.
Stump removal (full excavation) pulls the entire root ball out of the ground. It costs 2–4x more, leaves a large hole that needs to be filled and graded, and is usually only necessary when you’re building over the spot or installing a pool, patio, or foundation. We do both — and during the free estimate, we’ll tell you which one actually makes sense for your plans.
No, grinding removes the stump and surface roots within reach of the machine. The deeper root system stays in the ground and decays naturally over a few years. For 95% of homeowners, that’s completely fine. If you’re building over the spot, you need full removal instead.
No. Grinding 6–12 inches below grade cuts off the cambium layer and
the tree’s ability to re-sprout. Sucker shoots that come up afterward
are coming from leftover surface roots elsewhere in the yard, not the
ground stump.
Standard depth is 6–12 inches below grade — plenty for grass to grow
back over the spot. If you plan to plant a new tree, install sod, or put in
a patio, let us know and we’ll grind deeper.
Yes. The wood mulch makes great landscape mulch for flower beds or
path fill. Some homeowners spread it over the yard; others have us
haul it away. Just tell us your preference during the estimate.
Absolutely. We grind out stumps left behind by previous tree services,
storm damage, or DIY tree work — including old, weathered stumps
that have been sitting for years.
